Who Am I?
Artist Statement
I believe art is a language that connects cultures, eras, and the human spirit. My fashion designs stem from a desire to merge cultural heritage, sustainability, and personal expression. To me, art is not only a visual presentation—it’s a way of thinking and communicating, a poetic response to the world and to myself.
I draw inspiration from social issues, nature, and everyday life. Through metaphors, I express inner meanings, exploring the interplay of shape, color, and texture to achieve emotional depth and visual harmony. Once, a viewer at an exhibition told me, “Your work reminds me of a warmth I had forgotten.” That moment made me realize that the true value of art lies in its ability to awaken shared emotions. In recent years, I participated in a project to preserve Qiang embroidery culture, collaborating with local embroiderers to transform traditional techniques into small, modern cultural products such as earrings and accessories. This experience taught me that design can protect traditions, empower communities, and create meaningful dialogue between the past and the present. At the same time, I have become increasingly aware of the environmental impact of the fashion industry, which drives me to experiment with recyclable and sustainable materials, rethinking the relationships among material, form, and function. My creative process often begins with materials. I love exploring their unique qualities—acrylic paint and colored pencil in my paintings; wire, felt, and cardboard in my sculptures; and fabrics that embody the themes and meanings of my clothing designs. In my two-dimensional works, I integrate spatial concepts, while in my sculptures, I borrow compositional ideas from graphic design and photography. This interdisciplinary exploration defines my portfolio and strengthens my artistic voice.
I aim to continue developing material experimentation and interdisciplinary collaboration, integrating cultural and sustainable values into professional fashion design. My work is for those who seek meaning, warmth, and awareness—for those who believe that art and design can both reflect and reshape the world.
